Mackay welcomes mid-year students

About 30 dedicated mid-year entry students took their first step towards a successful academic career on Saturday (July 4) at CQUniversity Mackay.

Student Services Counsellor Alicia Davenport said it was great to see so many students take up the opportunity to attend the mid-year orientation information day.

"We covered a lot of important information during the day and the students who attended will be starting with the right information they need to succeed," Ms Davenport said.

"Orientation sessions are a chance for students to meet what is often their best resource - other students and in particular someone studying the same program.

"We received a lot of positive feedback from the group. It was a great opportunity for them to get to know essential contacts on campus and to get some advice on how to start their study."

The students are enrolled in programs across all faculties and were given both specific faculty advice and general administration information.

The day also included academic writing sessions coordinated by the Communications Learning Centre and students were provided with a tour of the Mackay Campus Library.

The students will begin their tertiary studies with CQUniversity this week.
