Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Diverse group gathers to discuss community "freshening" 

A diverse group is gathering at CQU Rockhampton (Bldg 3) on Friday to discuss freshening of communities with renowned social entrepreneur and author Peter Kenyon.

Over the past decade, Mr Kenyon has worked with more than 600 communities throughout Australia and overseas, to facilitate fresh and creative ways to stimulate community and economic revival.

Mr Kenyon’s current visit is an initiative of the Institute of Sustainable Regional Development at Central Queensland University and Xstrata Mining Ltd.

Participants in Friday’s session have travelled from as far as Brisbane, Bundaberg and Emerald to take part.
