More than 100 industry representatives from around Australia converged on CQUniversity Gladstone's Rex Metcalfe Theatre to attend the Gladstone Engineering Alliance (GEA) industry conference during October (8-9).
The conference provided an opportunity for relationship building between the supply chain and local industry, as well as showcasing the capability of the Gladstone region.
Attendance at the event
"The conference is held in order to present the global supply chain with opportunities for business in the region, as well as presenting our local industry to the global supply chain," said Karen Porter, spokesperson for GEA.
Boulder Steel Ltd representative Ross Johnson is already looking at starting construction of a steelworks plant in the Aldoga area in 2010.
"It was valuable to hear other industries' ideas for their future. The networking over morning tea and lunch was very helpful, everyone was friendly and it was a very good experience," he said.
Above all, representatives who attended the seminar were extremely pleased with the outcome and are looking forward to future conferences.
