Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Kiwanis CQU Brisbane Club raises funds for the deaf 

During Butterfly Week, April 2003, members of the Kiwanis CQU Brisbane Club raised $1424 in support of Children of the Hear and Say Centre on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

PhotoID:627 Butterflies were sold at a special picnic day held at Paradise Point, as well as within the University.

In recognition of the members’ efforts, Luca Casali, president of Kiwanis CQU Brisbane, was presented with a certificate of appreciation by the Centre’s Development Manager Robyn Symons.

Ms Symons said the funds would make a significant difference in the lives of hearing impaired children.

Kiwanis CQU Brisbane Club is one of the many clubs affiliated to the Central Queensland University Students Association (CQUSA).

The club aims to make a difference in the community, individually and in partnership with non-government organisations.
