Chemical 'solutions' on visitor's agenda

CQU's School of Chemical and Biomedical Sciences has hosted a visit by one of Australia's leading chemistry researchers in a bid to keep its courses as fresh and industry relevant as possible.

PhotoID:978 Professor Paul Haddad, an expert on separation science and analytical and environmental chemistry, was invited as a sounding board and extra perspective for the School's self-driven strategic analysis.

Head of School Associate Professor Graham Pegg said chemistry was an enabling science for a vast range of disciplines and careers, so it was vital to keep the course offerings relevant.

"We've got the results from a survey of industry and we are now looking at our course structures to get the best fit and to ensure employability of our graduates," Assoc Prof Pegg said.

Professor Haddad, from the University of Tasmania, is Director of the Australian Centre for Research on Separation Science.
