Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Education projects company director addresses Brisbane and Gold Coast graduates 

Education projects company director Ross Bishop (pictured) was guest speaker for this week's graduation cermony for students from CQU's Brisbane and Gold Coast international campuses.

PhotoID:2882 Mr Bishop was initially a steel sales manager with BHP, before entering teaching and then moving on to be a career manager in the higher education sector.

In 1993, Mr Bishop established an education projects contracting business, and currently operates and is Director of the company, Ross Bishop and Associates. Although much of the work of this company is within higher education, TAFE and private education, work is also undertaken in the corporate sector, with international education remaining a major focus of the business.

The graduation ceremony was held from 2pm on Wednesday, May 10, at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Corner Merivale and Glenelg Streets, South Bank.

A total of 147 graduates from 26 different countries attended.

Entertainment was provided by vocalist Dimitri Kopanakis, a former Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music lecturer, and an ensemble called the String Angels.
