Korean overcomes culture shock and enjoys CQU experience

Moving from Seoul to Rockhampton was a huge culture shock for Korean student Hyeri Kang (pictured right), who will be completing a year-long study program with CQU International this month.
"When I first came here, I felt lost since everything was completely different from Seoul," Hyeri explained.
"Compared to Seoul, which does not know darkness even at nights, Rockhampton is a small city even in Australia. However soon, I discovered how I enjoyed Rocky.
"With many international students at CQU, there was a very friendly mood here.".
Hyeri was one of three Korean students studying at CQU Rockhampton this year. Joining Hyeri was Hyo See Lee (Bachelor of Business [Management]), pictured middle, and Su Hee Kim (Bachelor of Information Technology). The students stayed on campus at Capricornia College.
Hyeri enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts program studying English literature.
"I was one of two Asian students in my English literature classes. Tutorial classes and oral presentations were always a big headache, however after I finished I could feel progress in understanding the language and culture." Hyeri was inspired by the encouragement she received from her classmates and professors to finish all her courses.
"I would like to thank all the staff here as they were always kind and always had time for me." The Korean students are able to receive degrees from both CQU and from their home institution.
