Easter debate ends research festivities on high note

The final Research Week debate ‘Reflections on Easter: The Bunny or the Bilby' was well contested by University staff.

Using humour, sledging, bribes, the occasional profanity and little or no real evidence, the speakers gave their all to impress the judges (some more than others).

On the bunny's side, proclaiming that the bunny is the universal image of Easter and that the bilby was just a ‘wanabe', were Leone Hinton, Merv Connell and Megan Barrett (the playboy bunny).

In the Bilby's corner, haggling the other team for supporting a disease ridden, randy pest, were Andrew Fenning, Karina Burke and Robyn Bailey.

In the end the adjudicators Wayne Jones and Daniel Nolan gave the winning prize to the bunny team.

The audience however was impressed by both teams as well as Jones' humorous recount of the event.
