"Great sports!" That's how the recent Chancellor's Cup held in Melbourne between August 7-8 was seen by supporters and students alike. The Gold Coast took the honours this year, with Rockhampton second.

Running since 2008, this event has been held in Rockhampton, the Gold Coast and now Melbourne.
Table tennis was a new sport this year
Originally a cricket-only event, the sports this year were cricket, soccer and table tennis. The venue for this year's event was the Action Indoor Sports Stadium.
Teams from Rockhampton, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sydney and the home team Melbourne sent teams of athletes to compete for the coveted Chancellor's Cup.
The weather was typical Melbourne, raining as the Rockhampton team touched down at Tullamarine airport. Oh so cold, as could be expected for this time of year, but this wasn't putting the Rocky boys and girls off.
Last year the Rocky team of cricketers were held to the wooden spoon and this year they were on a mission. Similarly, our indoor soccer team had high hopes of winning the inaugural event.
Table tennis was also on the agenda for the first time this year and we had some enthusiastic players in our mix.
Supported by staff from each of the campuses and well attended, this year's event was a winner from start to finish.
Rocky's soccer side were winners
In the end, the soccer was won in a closely fought match between the Gold Coast and Rockhampton and won by Rockhampton.
The cricket boys from Rockhampton can hold their heads high, losing out to a strong finishing Gold Coast team.
Our table tennis players were equally valiant and all look forward to next year's event. The result ended in draw between Gold Coast and Sydney.
