Bowl yourself over for cancer research

The Queensland Cancer Fund’s 2004 Relay for Life has the support of even more CQU staff and students, with 10 000 Steps and the School of Health & Human Performance combining forces to raise money for cancer research.

Relay for Life is due to be held at CQU Rockhampton athletics track on May 15-16.

As a lead up to main event, the 10 000 Steps and School of Health & Human Performance team will be hosting a lawn bowls night.

Teams of four are required for the night at $25 a head, which includes a barbecue dinner, beer, wine and softdrink and prizes galore.

Teams are encouraged to dress up and get into the swing of things, with all money raised going to the Queensland Cancer Fund.

“We are looking to raise around $1000 - $1500 for the Cancer Fund through the bowls night,” says 10 000 Steps Relay for Life Team Leader, Emma Larsen.

“The night should be fantastic, with the money raised going to a great charity and of course participants can get their daily steps in by playing the game.”.

The lawn bowls night will be held at the Athelstane Bowls Club on Ward Street on Friday April 23, 2004. Numbers are limited so register your team now and help raise funds for a worthy cause.

To register for the bowls night or for more information, please contact Emma at 10 000 Steps, on 4930 6410 or email e.Larsen@cqu.edu.au
