High school high on agenda at CQU Gladstone

School leavers, university graduates and people with a trade qualification are enouraged to consider becoming a high school teacher.

CQU Gladstone has announced it will introduce the Bachelor of Learning Management (BLM) degree with a secondary school option from next year, thanks to additional funded places from the Commonwealth Government.

The campus will continue to offer the popular BLM primary and early childhood options.

CQU Gladstone BLM coordinator Dr Beverley Moriarty said applicants for the secondary school option could consider three pathways – the full degree, a VET pathway for people with a trade qualification and experience, and graduate entry for people with a degree in another area.

She said employers were particularly keen on graduates able to teach in the areas of business and accounting, engineering, science, maths, information and communication technologies, trades, home economics and marine studies.

The BLM is a four-year degree which can be completed in three years as a full undergraduate program (for people who do not already have a degree in another area).

A feature of the degree is the early access to classroom experience and active partnerships with a range of employer groups.
