Management training offered to CQU staff

Central Queensland University in conjunction with Central Queensland Institute of TAFE is offering a new course for university staff.

The Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management) will be offered to suitable applicants in 2006.

Frontline management is the first level of management where you may oversee or manage the work of other staff. Frontline managers could be titled coordinators, team leaders, supervisors, forepersons, leading hands, and project or office managers.

PhotoID:2599 The objective of this new certificate program is to provide these people with up-to-date skills and a nationally accredited qualification.

Staff most suited for this course are those that are ready for management and leadership development, or already performing frontline management roles but who have had little or no formal management training.

The key benefit of the program is that the modules are practical and able to be applied directly to the participant’s work area.

The program consists of eight units with training delivered as a one-day training session per unit, held every 6 weeks over the course of 2006. Assessment will be based on the participant’s work area to ensure relevance to organisational objectives.

The first training session will be held on February 15 at the Central Queensland Institute of TAFE, in Rockhampton.

A discussion on the delivery of the course at other regional campus locations is currently underway and will be dependent on staff interest and commitment.

For information regarding fees and the application process, contact CQU’s HR Officer (Training) Nerine Williams on ext. 6904 or email n.williams@cqu.edu.au. Staff on regional campuses are also encouraged to register their interest for this program.
