CQUniversity Orientation caters for a broad range of participants, including school leavers, adult learners, parents and partners, on-campus students, distance and flex students, Indigenous students and international students. LINK to Parents and partners also welcome

During Orientation students will be linked with student mentors who have a vital role in getting new students comfortable with their new surroundings, and will continue to guide students throughout their first year of study.

Orientation coordinator Dr Gemma Mann says Orientation gives students the chance to meet key academics, program advisors and support staff and to find out what is important.

"We don't expect them to be able to do everything in the first week ... just to know what's important for them to find out," she said.

Dr Mann said the university had arranged opportunities for socialising, with events such as faculty morning teas and campus lunches.

A Parents and Partners event will be held on Monday morning from 9am until 1:30pm, the library will hold a tour and mentors will conduct campus tours from 1:30pm.

The Communications Learning Centre will hold an information session on academic writing and oral communications skills on Monday afternoon from 2pm, while students will get the chance to meet lecturers and discuss program specific details from 3pm.

Comprehensive details including sessions timed to suit Flex students and a special online resource are available on the Orientation web page accessed via www.cqu.edu.au .
