Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU graduates find jobs quickly 

Over 90% of Central Queensland University bachelor degree graduates found full-time employment within 4 months of completing their degrees, according to the 2006 Graduate Destination Survey (GDS) results released this week.

With an overall employment rate of 90.3%, CQU scored almost 8% higher than the national average of 82.4%.

The survey also revealed that CQU had a 100% employment rate in the study areas of building, psychology, social work and engineering. CQU also had over 90% employment rate in accounting, education, nursing and computer science.

The 2006 Graduate Destination Survey is conducted by Graduate Careers Australia and is based on Australian citizen, permanent resident bachelor degree students of Australia and New Zealand.
