Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

A 'Quality' International Office

CQU International was recently awarded full ISO 9001:2000 certification, following the successful implementation and audit of its Quality Management System.

The auditor noted that the staff possessed the 'unusual attribute of understanding the big picture', while being able to 'focus on the fine details of implementation'.

This achievement is significant for the whole university, given that the international dimension of operations has been in the spotlight of AUQA audits of several universities. CQU's AUQA audit will take place in late 2005.
