Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU Sydney lecturer busy on conference circuit 

CQU Sydney International Campus IT lecturer and PhD candidate Charmaine Pfaff is busy on the international conference circuit at the moment, having had 4 papers accepted for prestigious events.

The graduate campus academic, who has been at CQU for more than 3 years, is studying Knowledge Management.

PhotoID:3307 She presented on 'Overcoming Organisational Resistance to Using Wiki Technology for Knowledge Management' at the 10th Pacific Asia Conference 2006 on Information Systems in Malaysia from July 6-9.

Ms Pfaff will present on 'Emergent Conversational Technologies that are Democratising Information Systems in Organisations: the case of the corporate Wiki' for the Information Systems Foundations: Theory, Representation and Reality conference in Canberra from September 27- 28.

Later on, from November 20-24, Ms Pfaff will present on 'The Wiki: an environment to revolutionize employees’ interaction with corporate knowledge' at the Australian Computer Human Interaction (OZCHI) Conference 2006 in Sydney.

The CQU Sydney academic will also visit Rockhampton in late October to present on 'The Wiki: a tool to support the activities of the knowledge worker' at the Transformational Tools for 21st Century (TT21) 2006 Conference at CQU Rockhampton.

PhotoID:3308 Ms Pfaff's PhD project has attracted the attention of several large organisations.

Charmaine completed her postgraduate diploma and masters in IT at Wollongong University, following a double honours degree in Politics and International Relations from Southhampton University in the UK. She worked for the diplomatic service in Singapore and came to love Australia during her diplomatic visits in that capacity.
