Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Performing arts graduate rubs shoulders with Hollywood

Former Dysart resident and 2006 Performing Arts graduate Tegan Devine has taken her performing career to the next level and will star as an extra in the Hollywood film Fools Gold to be released in cinemas next year.

The film which sees Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson reunite for another romantic comedy (the pair teamed up for the hit How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days) is currently being filmed on the Gold Coast at Warner Bros studios.

Since going under the management of EGO talent agency in Brisbane, Ms Devine said she has been given the opportunity to be an extra on some exciting projects.

"Its so much fun ... I'm very busy but loving the industry," Ms Devine said.

She was also an extra in the children's television show H20 which airs on ABC.

Ms Devine is studying acting and voice at The Actors Workshop in Brisbane and successfully auditioned for a NIDA short course in acting skills.

She is also starring in NASH Theatre Company's Macbeth in which she plays one of the crazy witches. The play will be staged at the Brunswick Room Merthyr Uniting Church in May and June.
