Education leaders address graduations

Queensland's Education Minister and one of Australia's higher education leaders were guest speakers for graduations of students from the Sydney, Brisbane and Gold Coast international campuses of CQU this week.
Queensland Education Minister Anna Bligh addressed graduates from 20 nations during a graduation ceremony for the Brisbane and Gold Coast international campuses.
Around 100 graduates attended the ceremony held from 2pm on Friday, September 5, in the Brisbane Performing Arts Centre.
Nationalities represented at the ceremony included: Colombia, Libyan Arab Jamabiriya, Macau, Nauru, Nepal, Egypt, Germany, England, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and the USA.
Meanwhile, retired academic and now education consultant Professor Leo West addressed graduates from 34 nations during a graduation ceremony for the Sydney international campus of Central Queensland University.
Around 290 graduates atttended the ceremony in Sydney's City Recital Hall in Angel Place from 12.30pm on Thursday, September 4. This was the 18th graduation ceremony of CQU's Sydney International Campus.
Nationalities represented at the ceremony include: Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Fiji, Former Yugoslav Rep of Macedonia, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Korea, Latvia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Russian Federation, Samoa, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
Professor West has acted as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at CQU on two occasions.
