The CQU Gold Coast International Campus Director, Associate Professor Ken Bruce was head of the Australian delegation to the 6th ISO/TC222 (Personal Financial Planning) meeting in New York on June 22-23.
Mr Bruce has been a technical expert representing Standards Australia since the inception of ISO/TC222 in 2001.
There have been 17 participating countries involved in developing the standard including the US, UK, Germany, Japan and Australia.
ISO 22222:2005 Personal Financial Planning (its official title) is aimed at increasing client confidence by providing an internationally agreed benchmark for a high global standard of professional service.
Mr Bruce said that although the standard has now been published as an international standard, the Australian Committee is considering ways in which the standard may need to be adapted to make it more relevant to the Australian regulatory environment.
