Award-winning journalism student Hannah Gardner graduated with a double bachelor degree in Business and Professional Communication recently.

The former St Ursula's College student was named the Telstra Countrywide Media Awards Journalism Student of the Year during her degree. Her winning story was based on the Rockhampton Show Personality Quest 2004, in which she was also an entrant.

She didn't win the quest, but came away with some amazing experiences and an award which is invaluable for her CV.

"It was a hard road completing my studies, living away from home and supporting myself independently throughout my 4-year degree, but the CQU experience has made me more driven to succeed in my career," Miss Gardner explained.

During her studies, Hannah worked 2 part-time jobs at the same time in a variety of industries to give her the best experience possible and to help her determine where she wanted to take her career.

"I worked in radio, marketing, promotions, public relations and real estate sales."

"I believe my double degree from CQU has given me more opportunities that I could ever have imagined."

Currently, Hannah is living in Emu Park and working for Ergon Energy in Technical Training and Development.

She provides professional technical training and development administration and customer service to the employees of Ergon Energy. The role requires her to work effectively in a team environment to achieve business objectives, scheduling needs and resource requirements.
