Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Teens experience Uni life 

Twenty-seven senior high school students from throughout Central Queensland visited CQU Rockhampton this week for a university experience.

PhotoID:1602 The students are from places including Barcaldine, Blackall, Mt Morgan, Bundaberg, Gracemere, Gin Gin, Zilzie, Gladstone, Emerald, Yandaran, Yeppoon and Littlebella.

They stayed at the Capricornia College and experienced a range of different aspects of university life during the week.

CQU first-year experience coordinator Olive Mallory said the visiting students had an opportunity to gain first-hand information about courses, career opportunities and tertiary study expectations and also gained an insight into university life.
