CQU researchers mainstay of mining forum

Seven CQU researchers are presenting at a \'Social and Economic Impacts of Mining Forum\', due to be held in Emerald next Wednesday, May 17.
Associate Professor John Rolfe will address \'Identifying social and economic issues in the Bowen Basin\'.
CQU\'s Grant O\'Dea will talk about \'Issues with the EIS process\'.
Associate Professor Stewart Lockie will address \'Social impacts of mining in Blackwater and the Bauhinia Shire\'.
Dr Connie Zheng will discuss \'Balancing work and life in the mining industry\'.
Associate Professor Lee DiMilia will talk on \'Drive-in/Drive-out fatigue issues.
Galina Ivanova will talk about \'Using different assessment mechanisms in Blackwater and the Bauhinia Shire\'.
There will also be a panel discussion in the afternoon, facilitated by Professor Bob Miles, from CQU's Institute for Sustainable Regional Development, where participants can contribute to the debate about ways forward in dealing with social and economic impacts.
Other presentations will be given by representatives of Belyando Shire, Curragh Mine, the University of Queensland, the Office of Local Government and Planning and Anglo Coal.
The event is supported by CQU, the Central Highlands Development Corporation and the Australian Coal Association Research Program.
