Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Latest STEPS students begin at CQU Mackay 

Forty-eight new Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) students completed an Orientation Day at CQU Mackay recently.

PhotoID:892 Campus Coordinator of STEPS and Communication Learning Centre Lyn Forbes-Smith said the 13-week full-time program prepared students for 2004 tertiary admittance.

“This year we have accepted 75 students into the 2003 STEPS program and it is wonderful to see so many people interested in taking a new direction in their lives,” she said.
