Uni founder's grand-daughter attends Science Experience

The grand-daughter of CQUniversity founder Bruce Hiskens was one of 40 budding scientists who attended the Science Experience in Rockhampton recently.

Morgan Parker, from Cooloola Christian College in Gympie, said that like her grandfather before her, she hopes to study engineering. She looks forward to the day she can enrol in the university he helped to found*.                                               LINK HERE for details on the MACKAY event

"I really like to build things, and really enjoyed that aspect of the program here," Morgan said.

She said she also liked the pharmacology experiment which involved adding chemicals to a toad's heart to monitor responses.

"I really love the toad activity, but I wouldn't do that for a living."

Morgan was among 40 science, engineering and technology enthusiasts who attended the 3-day event on campus.

Students from Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Gladstone, Tannum Sands, Yeppoon, Maryborough, Blackwater and Mt Morgan attended the program.

The Science Experience enabled students to experience the ‘real world' of science with opportunities to take part in many hands-on workshops across a range of fields.

Workshops included motor construction, bridge construction, forensics, physiology, pharmacology, vermaculture, hydroponics and tone generation.

The Science Experience also enabled students to work with CQUniversity lecturers and chat with guest speakers.
