Visiting professor focuses on kids affected by domestic violence

CQU, in conjunction with the Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research, will host visiting speaker Professor Cathy Humphreys, Alfred Felton Chair of Child and Family Welfare, University of Melbourne, this Friday, December 7, from 11am to 12 noon at CQU Mackay.
(The presentation will also be video-linked to 18 sites across Queensland including, Cairns, Mareeba, Townsville, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Gladstone, Emerald, Mt Isa, Longreach, Nambour, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Roma and St George.)
Professor Humpreys' FREE presentation will focus on Responding to the protective needs of children affected by domestic violence.
Prof. Humphreys will examine the challenges for policy and practice for child protection in the context of domestic violence.
She will argue for the re-conceptualisation of domestic and family violence to acknowledge that such violence is a direct and indirect attack on the mother-child relationship.
