Healthy week for nursing profile

CQU's nursing profile will be boosted, following a series of positive announcements.

Dr Sandra Walker has been appointed to the Queensland Maternal and Perinatal Quality Council.

The Council was established in 2001 to provide advice and make recommendations to the Minister for Health and Director General of Queensland Health through the Chief Health Officer on matters relating to state-wide and facility specific Maternal and Perinatal morbidity and mortality.

Meanwhile, Dr Walker has also been congratulated for her role with CQU submissions to the Queensland Nursing Council.

The QNC has sought permission to use CQU\'s Mechanism Two submission as an exemplar for other education providers. This means both our mechanism 1 & 2 were sought by QNC as exemplars.

Head of the School of Nursing and Health Studies Dr Lorna Moxham said \"this demonstrates the high standard of the submission from our school and continues to raise the profile of CQU nursing at QNC in a very positive light\".

\"Dr Sandra Walker must be commended on her role with these submissions. She is invaluable as our program coordinator,\" Dr Moxham said.

Dr Moxham also announced that CQU staff member Sonja Cleary had been appointed to Bundaberg District Health Council.

\"This is a great achievement for Sonja. It is a merit process and a Ministerial appointment. It also continues to raise the profile of the school,\" she said.

In further news of this nature, Dr Moxham has been reappointed for a further four years to the Rockhampton District Health Council. She has also been reappointed to the Mental Health Review Tribunal (both Ministerial appointments).
