Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU Emerald hosts careers expo 

The annual Emerald Careers Expo presents a comprehensive range of careers with the latest information on tertiary studies, employment opportunities and further training.

PhotoID:3267 On Monday, August 21, CQU Emerald hosted the event once again.

The Emerald Town Hall was the chosen venue to house the forum of representatives from universities, colleges, employers, government departments, local businesses and support services.

With free admission and 37 exhibitors present, the hall was a hive of activity for most of the day and into the evening. Visitors to the event included students from Blackwater, Emerald, Springsure and Capella State high schools, as well as from Marist College Emerald.

CQU Emerald’s Senior Administrative Officer, Gai Sypher said, “The annual Careers Expo is a wonderful networking tool for people to obtain information on accessing their chosen career path and CQU Emerald is proud to be the organiser of this event".

"Some of the highest acclamations were received again this year from exhibitors and guests alike and the event was a tremendous success for everyone involved.

CQU Emerald Campus looks forward to hosting another successful Careers Expo again in 2007," Gai said.
