Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Campus hosts bald attempt to combat cancer 

CQU Rockhampton will host a Relay for Life fundraiser by a team call The Bald and the Beautiful, comprising staff from University Finance and others.

The team's head shave and head colour fundraiser will take place from 1pm on Thursday, May 5, in the commercial courtyard on campus.

Olympic gold medallist Anna Meares will perform the shaving and colouring duties.

CQU Finance Director Kieran Smith will have his head shaved if the team raises a minimum total of $5000.

Finance Acting Deputy Director David Turner will have his head shaved if the team raises a minimum total of $5000. Otherwise he will have his hair coloured.

Team members including Sharyn Millar, Aimee Donaldson, Simone Beasley, Cindy Van De Wetering will have their hair coloured.

Relay for Life will be held at the CQU Rockhampton sports oval on the weekend of May 14-15. Proceeds help support the Queensland Cancer Fund.
