'Undies' versus 'Posties' sporting rivalry continues

- Submitted by Priscilla Arnold from CQU Sydney Client Services.

Congratulations to the triumphant CQU Sydney International Campus 'Undies' for their magnificent 5 to 4 defeat over sporting rivals the CQU Sydney Graduate Campus 'Posties' during last week's touch football match at the Domain.

PhotoID:3410 A strong contingent from both campuses arrived at the game, with the Undergrads ready to take revenge for their soccer loss last month, and the Postgrads still revelling in their first-up soccer win.

Following a short warm-up where Sean O’Sullivan almost required a shot of CPR, the game kicked off.

It wasn’t long before the UG star of the match, Toby Kuchta began to show his side-stepping, darting and weaving prowess (obviously learnt in the corridors of the SIC campus) with a touch-down in the first 5 minutes.

As the faces began turning bright red and sweat beads formed, both teams relied desperately upon their substitutes.

However Steve Holliday from PG clearly demonstrated his endurance by remaining on the field until just prior to the full time whistle when he was unfortunately 'downed' with an injury. Bad luck Steve and we trust you recovered quickly.

Postgrads soccer star Dheeraj Singh once again showed off his multi-talented footwork by driving the PG team to a 1 point loss, however he was unable to bring his team home to a second victory as the Undergrads continued to forge their triumphant and victorious revenge.

Congratulations to both sides and to all their supporters who cheered along with their teams even though Nilanga Kotigala had some difficulty waving his stubby of VB in the air.

A fun night was had by all and we look forward to the next challenge.
