Research 'implanted' for French interns

Two interns who arrived at CQUniversity from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Agronomique de Rennes in September last year have now said their farewells.

They came to spend a formal and compulsory training component of their degree studies; to work side by side with active researchers.

For Loic Burtin, it was Manouchehr Torabi of Iran and for Delphine Lacombe it was Dr Surya Bhattarai, formerly of Nepal.

Their mentors guided them through research on water use by plants, improving both the efficiency of delivery of water and air in irrigation and the efficiency with which plants use water.

Loïc thanked the staff and students at the Centre for Plant and Water Science for hosting the pair at CQUniversity.

Meanwhile, Delphine commented that she takes back with her the memories of washing roots and measuring and counting stomata [the small pores on leaves].

They will both act as ambassdors for CQUniversity and for Queensland when back in France.
