North Keppel to bring out the best in writers

North Keppel Island will bring out the best in writers taking part in the ‘Footprints in the Sand: Writing as a Journey' event, from September 12-14.
Organised by Idiom 23 Magazine, the event at the island's Environmental Education Centre will feature a workshop on ‘Creative Writing and a Sense of Place'.
This will be led by writer-in-residence Dr Lynda Hawryluk, with help from Kristin Hannaford, Louise Waller and Steve Butler.
Details about the event, funded with the assistance of CQUniversity's Regional Centre of the Arts (RCotA), are available via Dr Liz Huf on l.huf@cqu.edu.au or 4938 3746. A final program of all activities will be sent to each workshop participant.
"We have had quite a lot of interest in this workshop, but there are still places for enthusiastic writers," Dr Huf said.
She said a participant from last year's island workshop - Margaret Finger of Clermont- had gone on to win the Regional Story category of the Bauhinia Literary Awards and would return for this year's event.
