Dr Mitch Duncan - standing up against sitting down
CQUniversity's Dr Mitch Duncan will explain how new scientific evidence suggests long periods of seated activity could increase the risk of obesity, diabetes and heart disease.
His Research Unplugged presentation will attempt to answer questions including: Are we as a society sitting more? Does sitting really make you fatter, and increase your risk of diabetes and heart disease? Is sitting bad for health even if someone is regularly active? What can people do to sit less?
This Institute for Health and Social Science Research (IHSSR) initiative is planned in conjunction with CQUniversity's Research Expo. Dr Duncan is a Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow.
