Student selected for Manchester soccer team

Melbourne International Campus student John Polidoros recently took part in the try-outs for the Manchester City soccer team.

He was one of the forty-nine players from Australia fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to take part in this program.

PhotoID:207 A total of 200 football players from all over the world participated in the try-outs in the hope of qualifying to become the next big name in the Manchester City squad.

John’s love of football began at the young age of eight. He has since been playing soccer at leading clubs, and is presently playing for Darebin United and South Melbourne.

The daily routine at the “Manchester City tryouts” camp had been waking up at 7am and having breakfast at 10am. Morning training went from 10:30am to noon, with an hour for lunch thereafter. From 2pm to 6pm it was back to the football pitch for more practice. After 9pm the boys were given a choice of either swimming or working out at the gym.

Only 24 of the possible 200 players that tried out were selected, John being one of the fortunate players to be chosen as part of the squad.

He now has a personal trainer living at his home to guide him through training every day.

According to John, CQU-MIC offers a multicultural environment. He said: “Staff and students are friendly and approachable.

“I’m studying a Multimedia degree and the program is flexible as the University provides us with Resource materials and study guides so we could always catch up on missed classes”.

“After completing my degree at CQU-MIC I will move to England to play for the Manchester City team.”
