Offers to study at CQUni surge
Published on 13 January, 2011
Rockhampton -- A very high number of offers have been made to applicants wanting to start at CQUniversity this March. The University is offering nearly 11% more (domestic) undergraduate places than it did the same time last year largely to do with new programs in Law, Medical Imaging, Sonography and Paramedics that begin in just about 6 weeks.
"We spent all of 2010 engaging with future students and experts in these professions, developing these programs because industry said they needed them for the growth and Central Queenslanders said they wanted to study them," explained CQUniversity Vice Chancellor & President Professor Scott Bowman.
Interest in existing programs surged too in Engineering, Construction Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Exercise & Sport Science, Aviation Technology and Multimedia Studies.
"We're doing more work now in 2011 to bring on additional programs next year - especially in health. We've always been strong in Nursing and from now on Queenslanders will know us as the University of choice especially for medical-related and health careers," added Professor Bowman.
Last year 3220 new undergraduate (domestic) students commenced their studies in Term 1.
Term 1 2011 Orientation starts on 21 February, with classes starting the 28th. CQUniversity is still accepting applications to some programs.
