The Key to a Merry Xmas

Central Queensland University staff and students recently made time during their busy end of year exam period to contribute to the Salvation Army Christmas appeal.

The collection of non-perishable food items and small toys was organised by the CQU Golden Key Chapter, an honour society that recognises academic achievement and focuses on community service and involvement.

Gladstone Golden Key student, Steve Richardson said the Christmas appeal was the groups’ final community service activity for 2002.

“The group arranged for collection points at nine CQU locations and encouraged both internal and external students to make contributions.

“The appeal was extremely successful at all of our campuses and it’s a great way to end the year,” said Mr Richardson.

CQU Golden Key was chartered in 2001 and the Gladstone campus already has over 70 students involved in the society.

Active membership increases the student’s career and scholarship opportunities and offers the chance to get involved in worthwhile community projects and to meet great people and have heaps of fun.
