Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Queensland Governor visits CQU Gladstone during city visit

Her Excellency Quentin Bryce AC, Governor of Queensland, and her Aide-de-Camp Lieutenant Commander Matthew Rowe, RANR ADC, visited CQU Gladstone on Friday April 20, accompanied by Gladstone City Mayor, Peter Corones.

It was part of a three-day stay in Gladstone. The Governor visited local industries, including a tour of the reduction line at Boyne Smelters Limited and the port facilities. 

Ms Bryce was also an honoured guest at a luncheon for the Leukaemia Foundation, of which she is patron.

During her visit to CQU Gladstone, the Governor met with CQU Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard and Gladstone Head of Campus Dr Pierre Viljoen, and discussed the challenges facing the Australian tertiary education sector and possible opportunities in the future.
