Steve sings praises, finding wife and job tip on campus

Now an established member of the Ten Tenors, Steve Sowden attributes his marriage and his current job to contacts made at CQUniversity's Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (based at Mackay Campus).

The former Brisbane student moved to the Conservatorium in Mackay and was able to perform in the brand new theatre complex.

He gained experience with roles in Footloose, Aspects of Love and Chicago and lecturer Kim Kirkman - one of the Ten Tenor founders - suggested he audition for the group.

"I did, got the job, and here I am!," Steve said.

"Before I joined up with the Tenors, I did a contract overseas with Tokyo DisneySea as a vocalist in their Musical Theatre Revue."

Steve recently got married and can also attribute this event to his time at Mackay.

"My wife and I met on the first day of university together at CQCM Mackay outside the Refec. We studied the same course, all the same classes at the same time, and are still together!

"Unfortunately, currently I'm homeless! My wife is living down in Melbourne which is where I'll reside also when I'm home. We own a couple of investment places, but not a home yet!"

"I'd like to continue with the Tenors for quite a few years yet, before I head home to start a family! Then I'll audition for shows in Australia, so hopefully I can stay close to my wife and kids."
