Mr Fritschy said he was honoured by the invitation to remain as Chancellor and that he would continue to advocate the value of education for everyone and encourage community involvement and investment in education at CQU and at all levels.

"These are and will continue to be very challenging and rewarding times for education providers. My wish for the University is for our community members and stakeholders to be as strongly connected to CQU and as proud of its accomplishments as the students and people who learn and work here," explained Mr Fritschy.

"As we embark on our next 40 years, CQU's continuing purpose will be to significantly and positively impact people's lives locally and globally. We want to be even more accessible so whether you are a student, a member of staff, a small business owner or large corporate partner or other community member, you will have the opportunity to embrace and benefit from the energy and resources that constitute CQU," he added.

Mr Fritschy has worked with a broad spectrum of local groups and numerous business associations, including Rotary, in Gladstone and Rockhampton and throughout Queensland. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (University of Sydney) as well as a Bachelor of Economics (University of Western Australia) and a Graduate Diploma in Corporations Law (University of New England). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers.

Mr Fritschy received The James Goldston Industry Award 2001 from CQU for service to the University's James Goldston Faculty of Engineering and Physical Systems.

(The University is governed by Council, which represents University and community interests. It is chaired by Chancellor Fritschy and has the authority to appoint senior staff, direct University affairs and oversee finances to promote the University's interests.)
