Time-poor Sam enriches career prospects

Rockhampton's Sam Ness-Wilson is proud to have graduated from a Graduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching and into a new career as a teacher.

After all she studied full-time with 4 children under 6, including a baby of 7 months when she started (and with no family support in town).

"I was previously a Registered Nurse/Midwife, but chose to take on a new career that would be better suited to my children," she said.

"Whilst studying full-time, my husband also mantained a managing role with long hours 6 days per week.

"I spent many nights studying till 2 and 4am before turning up to my school prac the same morning (a few short hours later!). There were also many nights I didn't go to bed at all!

"I had an overall average of D and recieved 3 HD+ including the gold award for my WebQuest created for e.learning futures!

"It was a great experience; I got an EQ S1 rating and now a job doing one day a week at a school.  Exactly what I wanted."

Sam, who attended her graduation on March 4, said the course was a huge challenge that she was proud to have conquered very successfully while still maintaining a very hectic life.
