International celebration in Mackay
Published on 26 October, 2005
A group of international students from CQU Mackay helped 3 departing students celebrate the completion of their studies during a special dinner and presentation last week.
The dinner, which was well attended by international students at Mackay campus, was also attended by Head of Campus Professor Phillip Clift, Sub-dean of the CQCM, Ms Judith Brown, two staff members from Student Services, Katrina Richmond and Julie Godden and Robyn Bailey, the International Student Support Officer from Student Services Rockhampton.
The 3 departing students were Scott (Jung Min) Kim from Korea, Mateaki Sefo from Tonga and Mary Carmelletes Gan Lim from the Philippines.
Following the dinner, Professor Clift presented the students with certificates and wished them well as they return to their home countries and embark on their careers.
CQU Mackay currently has 11 international students studying on campus from countries including Korea, Tonga, South Africa, America, England and the Philippines.
An International Student dinner is held each year to celebrate with the students who are departing but are unable to attend the graduation ceremony held in July.
