Students helped to 'stress less' at CQU Mackay

CQU Mackay is gearing up for the stressful final exam period and is preparing a Stress Less Day, to be held at the campus on Tuesday September 26.

The program is part of a nationwide Healthier Universities Program (HUP) which has been enthusiastically adopted by CQU and strongly supported at the Mackay Campus.

PhotoID:3584 The HUP program aims to promote the adoption of healthier behaviours among university students between the ages of 18 and 25.

The Stress Less Week has been specifically designed for university students during their final week of term which is generally known as a challenging and demanding time.

The Stress Less Week event aims to bring the students' attention to the need to relax, have fun and reduce the stress in their lives.

Anticipated events for the program include live performances by musicians, irridology and massage consultations, mediation sessions, seminars on ‘exam preparation’ and ‘coping strategies for students’, and stress level and blood pressure testing.

Every Stress Less week attendee will be equipped with a take-home bag containing various resources to help them unwind.

The event will also serve as a forerunner to national and international mental health weeks. The Stress Less Day will take place under a marquee at the Mackay campus, and is a Student Services and CQU Mackay initiative.
