Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Health Minister welcomes nurses from CQU Bundaberg 

Five of the 6 new nurses recruited for Bundaberg Hospital were recent CQU Bundaberg graduates, according to Health Minister Stephen Robertson.

Mr Robertson said the nurse graduates were the first stage of a large nursing recruitment program for the district.

"Following on from the district's success in medical recruitment, we are able to offer a number of nursing positions to support our doctors and increased services," Mr Robertson said.

"The hospital's new graduates are the start of a focus on nursing recruitment.".

Mr Robertson said two new nurses were working in surgical theatres and one nurse each in the surgical ward, medical ward, the emergency department, and the mental health unit.
