Darling Downs' residents encouraged to have their say on housing issues

Residents of the Darling Downs are encouraged to take part in an online survey examining housing needs in the area.

The Darling Downs Housing Needs Analysis is a project commissioned under the auspices of the Wambo Shire Council and the Darling Downs Housing Council and is funded by the Queensland Department of Housing.

The project is being conducted by independent researchers from the Institute for Sustainable Regional Development (ISRD) at Central Queensland University.

The objective of the project is to identify the requirements for provision of housing and related support services in the light of economic growth in the Darling Downs region, the levels of funding that might be required to meet the identified needs and service requirements, and lastly to identify models and practices which could be effectively utilised in the community to provide better and more efficient housing related services.

Institute for Sustainable Regional Development researchers will be conducting interviews throughout the Darling Downs region with representatives of the housing sector and local government authorities from the February 26 to the March 9 2007. In addition, the Institute is seeking assistance from members of the Darling Downs community to participate in the Darling Downs Housing Needs online survey. This is an important way in which all community members can provide important insight and feedback on housing issues in the region. To participate in this survey please go to the following website before the April 30, 2007:.
