Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU Rockhampton discovered 

Central Queensland University hosts its an annual Discovery Day at the Rockhampton Campus providing high school students with the opportunity to investigate the University on a real “Working Day” and allow them to participate in a range of activities especially prepared for the occasion, all free of charge.

Discovery Day is on Wednesday, October 23rd . Events will run from 1pm until 4pm, with students from each school given the opportunity to win a major prize (being a brand new computer system for their own personal use) and a number of scholarships for participation in the Tertiary Awareness Program - CQU’s university transition program.

The day is aimed at senior high school students (year 11 & 12) in an effort to get all involved who may be thinking of tertiary study in the near future.

Over the next few days, the Marketing & Advertising Unit of Community Relations will be asking all of areas of the university that want to be involved to send their information through for inclusion in the day’s events. For more information contact Tina White at x2555
