'Launch Pad: Central Queensland Youth Stories' is described as an exciting exhibition of film, photographic portraits and memorabilia.

This exhibition will run from March 2, 2007 through to April 22, 2007 and celebrates the inspirational talent and achievements of 6 young Rockhampton achievers in different fields including an artist (Kate Oates), a filmmaker (Julia Thornton), a performer and activist (Maia Keerie), a scientist (Keith Chappell), a sportswoman (Anna Meares) and a pastoralist (Emma Lindley).

PhotoID:3653 Representing the many young people in our community who are talented, focussed and driven, each of the 6 individuals has pushed themselves beyond expectations to pursue their dreams.

Mayor of Rockhampton, Cr Margaret Strelow said their inspiring success stories will stir you to look around and see that everyone has the ability to make a mark on the world.

“This exhibition is designed to show secondary school students and the wider community what young people have achieved by daring to follow their dreams, and to inspire them to achieve their own dreams,” Cr Strelow said.

“We hope that this exhibition sends a strong message to young achievers and to the wider community that the early adulthood years are crucial in the creation of tomorrow’s generation of community leaders,” the Mayor said.

The exhibition will be launched by Craig Zonca, ABC Capricornia Morning Presenter, at 6pm on Friday, March 9, 2007 at the Rockhampton Art Gallery, 62 Victoria Parade.
