Rockhampton STEPS students celebrate
Published on 07 November, 2005
CQU Rockhampton STEPS students reached a milestone last month (Oct 28), during a Celebration of Learning Completion Ceremony.
The ceremony was held at the largest lecture theatre on campus, in front of family members, friends and STEPS staff.
Over 60 of the STEPS students for 2005 have applied to QTAC for 2006, the huge majority applying for CQU. Some have indicated that they will apply in 2007.
There will be a Rockhampton STEPS testing and information session from 9am-1pm on Wednesday, November 9 in Building 32/G.18.
Interested people can phone 4930 9059 for an application form and more details.
The Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) program will also be available to distance education students for the first time in 2006.
It is believed to be Australia’s first external course of this type to be available free of tuition and textbook charges.
Previously, students have had to attend CQU campuses to complete the STEPS (Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies) program.
STEPS is for adults (over 18) who have not completed senior schooling, or who have been away from formal study for a long time.
It provides a pathway into university study and has changed the lives of thousands of students over the past decade.
Successful distance education applicants will be supported by a designated STEPS External Program Coordinator.
Details of the new distance education option are available from Therese O'Donnell on 07 4150 7149 or t.odonnell@cqu.edu.au .
