The annual general meeting of the CQUniversity Mackay Library Society and its adjunct group Film and Arts Mackay will be held from 7.30pm on Tuesday, March 17, at the campus library. 

Mackay Campus Library Manager Pauline McNee said the groups are non-profit and all fundraising is used to assist and support the campus library and its activities.

"AGM attendees will have an opportunity to hear from guest speaker, Mark Fawcett, Mackay Regional Council's newly appointed Manager, Convention Precinct and Events, and a light supper will be provided following the meeting," Mrs McNee said.

All attendees will be greeted with champagne and orange juice to celebrate the successes of 2008.

Mrs McNee said all committee positions will become vacant to give new members an opportunity to be at the helm.

"Members and volunteers of the Library Society and Film and Arts Mackay contribute to film activities and the arts in the Mackay region and support the Library by organising monthly film nights and special film events held at the Cook Theatre at Mackay Campus," she said.

"Additionally, they organise annual book sales, support student activities, and stimulate the growth of the library by seeking out and acquiring any manuscripts, books, photographs, prints, paintings or other equipment and materials that will enhance the library's services."

 "We are hoping for a good attendance at the AGM to ensure that the film nights and other activities will continue, as they are valued by the community and the University."

The groups meet on the last Thursday of each month (from 5.30pm) at the CQUniversity Mackay Campus Library at Planlands.
