Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Mattison engineers five prize wins during student awards 

CQUniversity Engineering student Mattison Rose had plenty to smile about during the recent student awards ceremony.

The Rockhampton-based student gained two prizes from Engineers Australia and others included the Fund for Accessing Future Potential (FAPEx), the Homer Cheng Ergon Energy Memorial Prize, and the Bechtel Australia Prize for First-Year Engineering.

"I am incredibly grateful for the awards that I received for my first year of study at CQUniversity," Mattison says.

"I truly appreciate the level of financial assistace that Engineers Australia, Bechtel, Ergon and CQUni have provided me with and it will most definitely have a beneficial impact on my future study options.

"It has provided a real incentive for me to continue my dedication to studies and will help me in future to secure potential employment both after graduation and in vacation periods.    

"Studying Engineering at CQUni has given me the opportunity to pursue my curiousity with physics and engineering and the recognition has given me further incentive to pursue a carrer in this profession."
