Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Uni proud to have meaty role during national Beef Expo 

CQUniversity is proud to be a Supporting Partner for Australia's National Beef Exposition - known as Beef Week - in Rockhampton from May 4-9. 

The University is offering something for everyone, with a particular focus on alumni, who are encouraged to take a free Graduates' Pit Stop at the Garden Grill of the Rockhampton Showgrounds venue from 5pm-7pm on Friday May 8.

They can spend a casual hour or two catching up with other graduates, while enjoying refreshments courtesy of their University.

Everyone is encouraged to drop in to CQUniversity's Trade Fair site in the Kidman Pavilion (site 66), from Tuesday to Friday (May 5-9), anytime from 8.30am to 7.30pm.

The University is among many key organisations to have its own bull statue* made in honour of the event, reflecting the permanent bull structures at various highway locations, and will unveil the mock mascot in time for the event.

CQUniversity professors John Rolfe and David Midmore will be presenting seminars during Beef Week.

Professor Rolfe is presenting about the potential for cattle methane emmissions to be included in future versions of the proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS), during the Fortune Favours the Prepared session at the James Lawrence Pavilion - Room 1 from 1pm-5pm on Monday, May 4. Professor Midmore is chairing the session on Grazing Foundations: healthy soils and pastures at the James Lawrence Pavilion - Room 2, from 1pm-3pm on Tuesday, May 5. Details available at this LINK

CQUniversity is also a driving force behind a special Creative Kids Space, accessible from 9am-5.30pm each day from May 5-8 in the Old Photography Rooms (upstairs behind the large grandstand).
