Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Nursing lecturer helps lead nurse leaders 

Nursing & Health Studies staff member John Kemsley, who is based at the Sunshine Coast, has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the Association of Queensland Nurse Leaders.

PhotoID:3572 Head of the School of Nursing & Health Studies Dr Lorna Moxham said this was great news for John, the School and CQU.

"We are fast getting our name out there and appointments like this are vital to our forging ahead," she said.

The Association of Queensland Nurse Leaders aims to provide leadership to the profession in the pursuit of excellence in healthcare, in a dynamic and complex environment. Objectives include:.

Provision of professional development activities for the members.

Provision of a forum to influence health policy.

Enhancement of the professional status of nursing.

Facilitation of professional development, support and communication network.
